>If it were anyone else but Israel……………

Why do they always get away with it?

I’m not sticking up for Hamas, by the way – their record at pursuing peace isn’t great. Chosen by the Palestinian people out of frustration after decades of oppression and being ignored by the international community, they are not a bunch of cuddly teddy bears by any stretch of the imagination.

Someone, somewhere, has to make this stop. President-Elect Obama, Secretary of State Designate Clinton, I think this means you.

    >Too late. Obama supports Israel on this one.

  2. Julian H says:

    >Israel is constantly under attack, and surrounded by states run by politicians openly declaring racist intentions to wipe Israel off the face of the planet. This does not justify many of the Israeli government’s (often appalling, and futile) actions, but it does make comparisons to “anyone else” somewhat feckless.

    >Julian, And there are many Israelis who would love to wipe the Palestinians off the planet. Gazans have been under constant blockade; furthermore, it was Israel that broke the truce this time around…Israeli troops crossed the Gaza border on November 4th which is what prompted the latest volley of rockets. Operation ‘Cast Lead’ was being prepared even when Israel was negotiating with Hamas (which casts the actions of the IDF on November 4th in a very interesting light). It’s high time Israel was held to account before international law and listerning to radio phone-ins etc it is striking how many people are getting sick of the special treatment Israel gets…it is not acceptable under any conditions to launch collective punishments of entire populations because they vote a way you dont like…It is time for military intervention because neither side can keep the peace…

  4. Darrell G says:

    >Julian,As an addendum…Egypt and Jordan have singed peace deals with Israel and recognise it so stop peddling this myth that Israel is a nation under siege…it is a nation under siege from it’s own neuorotic paranoia….
